Trans Kids Belong Here Denver Summit Pep Rally
What’s happening now with Propositions 134 and 135 is bigger than an attack on trans participation in sports. These activists are turning women’s sports into a political circus, manufacturing controversies, dragging players and teams into culture-war stunts, and demanding that women's sports leagues police who belongs in women’s spaces. Their goal isn’t to protect women’s sports. It’s to weaponize women’s sports as a stage for attacking trans people. But the unprecedented popularity of women's sports gives us an exciting opportunity. The NWSL regular season (as we lead into the Women’s World Cup in 2027) will be a major stage for demonstrating just how much support there is for trans people, trans athletes, and the simple idea that trans people belong everywhere, including in sports. On October 15th, Families Not Politics and Transgender Law Center will bring that message first to Town Hall Collaborative from 4-7pm with a pep rally where you can grab a drink, learn about the campaign, and get your “Trans Kids Belong Here” shirt. Then, on October 17th, we'll all wear our shirts to the Denver Summit game against Angel City FC at 6:45pm. Together, we’ll create a visible, joyful, and impossible-to-ignore demonstration that the future of sports is for everyone.
